Urban Decay Naked 2 Pallet Review

Spring 2015, April

Topic:Makeup Review
Product:Urban Decay Naked 2 Pallet
Rating: 4.5/5

Hey guys we are finally reunited! More posts are coming soon :)

Review:
This pallet has eleven beautiful and creamy nude shades. It is very practical too because you can do so many different looks with it. There is a wide selection of shades like copper colours, champagnes, silvers and matte shades. You'll find very wearable colours and a few more daring ones.

PRO:
1- The consistency of the eyeshadows themselves are very luxurious and pigmented.
2- The colours are very pigmented so a little goes a long way.
3- The packaging is metal which makes it very sturdy and portable. You won't have to worry about it breaking in your makeup bag.
4- The mirror in the pallet is very large and practical.
5- The eyeshadows are very long lasting and look beautiful on the lids all day.
6-It comes with a brush and a lip gloss.

CON:

1- The shimmery shades tend to have fall out. They will look gorgeous when you first apply them, but a few hours later you will notice sparkles under your eyes. This problem can be solved by using the Urban Decay "Primer Potion" or the Nars "Smudge Proof Eyeshadow base."
2- There are lots of nude shades, but no brights.
3-At Sephora, it costs $54 and 50€

Here are a few looks that you can create with this pallet:

To create a natural and fresh look follow these steps:
Take "Foxy" and cover your eye from your lash line to the brow bone to create a clean base and hide any vains and redness. Sweep "Booty Call" across the lid and in the inner corners of the eyes. Take "Tease", the matte brown shade, on a fluffy blending brush and place it in the crease.

This is a wearable, easy and full proof look.
You could also make an elegant and more dramatic look by adding "Pistol" in the crease for even more depth. To add drama place "Busted","Verve", and "Black Out" in the outer corner and smudge it out on your lower and upper lash line.

Overall Rating:
This pallet is gorgeous and great for all different kinds of looks. We love it, but if you aren't willing to spend a lot of money then this pallet isn't for you. It's only big flaw is it's price. We will be on the lookout for dupes.

                                  Thanks,
                                   -xoxo

Spring essentials- 2015

Spring 2015, April

Topic: Spring Essentials

Disclaimer: All pictures are our own.

Hey guys,
Well it is officially spring and we can't be happier. The sun is out and it is time for us to write an essentials post.

If you want to know what our 5 Spring essentials are then keep on reading.

1. It is spring and it is time to bring colour back into your life. You could add a touch of colour by adding brighter clothing to your wardrobe or by rocking a bold and bright lipstick. If this lipstick is too daring for you, just dab it on your lips with your finger, the colour will appear a lot sheerer and more natural. This lipstick is by Maybelline New York from the 'Vivids collection', the colour is 'Vibrant Mandarin'.

2. If you have been reading our blog for a while it is no secret that we like reading. Every season or month I like to write down a list of all the books I want to read in that month or season. It is also a good way to start reading if you don't read enough already.

3. Spring is also a good time to make a new Spotify playlist or try to find new songs to listen to with friends and family.
Recently my three favourite songs have been:

-Benjamin Francis Leftwich - Pictures
-Dustin Tebbutt - The Breach
-Arctic monkey- Snap out of it

What have been your favorite songs recently?

4. Here is a short and easy way to 'vamp up' your water. If you are not a huge water drinker, this could be a way to help you drink more.
It's really easy: cut up some of your favourite fruits and mix them in with your regular iced water. My favourite fruits to put in my water are: lemons, strawberries and water melon. For the most flavor leave the fruit sit in the water for a few hours.

5. Nail polish is always a fun to change up when the seasons change. I bite my nails (it's really bad) but I still like painting them.  This nail polish is a pretty bright blue color, it is by Essie and is in the color 'In the CAB-ANA'. These Essie nail polishes are very long lasting and chip proof.

Tell us some of your spring essentials in the comments :)

DIY: Flower Letter

Spring 2015, April

Topic: DIY

This post will be about a DIY flower letter. It can be hung on your wall or just placed on your desk.

**This DIY was not my idea, it was LaurDIY's, but I liked the idea of it**

You will need:
  • A wooden letter
  • A pair of scissors
  • Fake flowers
  • A hot glue gun
  • Paint & a paint brush(Optional)

Step 1: Paint your letter.(You don't have to do this, but the white in my letter wouldn't look good against the blue flowers)

**Note: Don't forget to put newspaper down before painting!

Step 2: Cut off the flowers from their stems.

Step 3: Hot glue the flowers to the letter and wait for the glue to dry.

Then you are done!

I hope that you guys liked this DIY, even though it was not my idea. Please comment down below if you like this and would like to see more.
Thanks,
J

Update+Fresh summer recipe 💚

Spring 2015, April

Well, it has been a while. We have a lot of explaining to do. If you did not know this already, J and me live VERY far apart. Not only do we live far apart but in different countries and time zones. We barely get to talk about our blog. We only ever see each other in April and the summer break which is why that is when we post the most. We have decided that we don't always have to be together in order to write a blog post. No worries though, J is coming to visit me NEXT WEEK. I am so exited. We just really want to thank everybody for all their support, we started this blog one day over summer break randomly thinking nothing would become of it. Now that we have over 1000 page views it is mind blowing. We want to thank you guys by posting A LOT more. We have a few drafts ready to be posted :) Please leave requests in the comments. We can't thank you enough.

Spring is among us and after a long and cold winter it is time to bust out the healthy and fresh recipes. I have been watching cooking shows all morning and it has inspired me to write a blog post for you all.
Today's recipe is going to be a healthy fresh pea soup.
I don't like peas but for some reason I love this soup.
Let's get started with the recipe.

1- Ingredients:

-1 tablespoon of olive oil
-2 cups of leeks, about 2 leeks
-4 cups of hot water or vegetable stock
-1 cup of chopped onions
-2/3 of a cup of roughly chopped mint leaves
-5 cups of frozen peas
-2 teaspoons of garlic powder
-salt and pepper (to your liking)
-a handful of chives

2- Directions

Start off by cutting up your leeks and onions.

Place olive oil in a saucepan and add the leeks and onions, cook for about 7 minutes on medium low heat until onions are soft and translucent. Add in the hot water or vegetable stock into the same pan and put heat to high, bring to a boil.

Add in the peas and cook until peas are tender.

Turn off the heat and add in the mint and seasoning. Now it is time to purée the soup. Do this in a blender or with an emulsion blender until smooth. Let the soup cool to room temperature.
If you are using a blender make sure to blend a little at a time and not all at once, else it will splatter everywhere and will burn you (and that is not fun.)
Serve hot if desired but if you want to serve it fresh put it in the fridge for 30 minutes or until chilled. Pour into bowl and add diced mint leaves and chives on the the top for even more crunch and freshness.

I decided it needed more of a crunch so I made some garlic croutons. This made the soup taste even better. I just cut up baguette in some chunks and placed them on a baking tray. I drizzled some olive oil on top and seasoned it with garlic powder, salt and pepper. I place them in the oven at 350 F° until golden brown. They are crispy and add so much to any soup.

Book Review

Spring 2015, April

Topic: Book Review
Book: Paper Towns
Author: John Green
Rating: 4/5

Paper Towns is by the same author of the popular The Fault in Our Stars. I didn't like TFIOS book or movie but I did like this book.

Summary:

It starts off with a prologue. The main character, Quentin Jacobsen, and his friend Margo Roth Spiegelman are nine years old and very good friends. While biking in the woods, they find a dead person, who later Margo finds out had committed suicide. Margo takes two steps forward while Quentin takes two steps back. This shows that Margo wants to know why there is a dead guy in the woods, whereas Quentin is unsure if they should even be looking at the dead body. When they get back home, Margo goes around the neighborhood asking if anyone knew who the dead guy was. Meanwhile Quentin just wants to forget that experience.

The story officially begins when Quentin, or Q, is a senior in high school and is just two weeks away from graduating. Prom is approaching but Q doesn't want to go. He is afraid that he will get rejected because he is smart but not popular, whereas Margo is popular and has a date. Q and Margo are no longer friends but they are next door neighbors. Then, one night Margo comes into Q's room and asks him to help her with ten pranks. Q agrees to drive Margo and help her take care of all her "errands" that they have to run. The next day Margo isn't at school. Her parents say that she has run away. Q hears Margo's parents tell his parents that she leaves clues as to where she is but they aren't very helpful. Q then decides that he will try to find Margo and he starts looking for clues. After trying unsuccessfully, Q almost gives up then finds a clue as to where Margo was recently. He locates her with the help of his friends, Radar, Ben, and Lacey and they go on a long drive to find Margo.

Review:

I loved this book a lot and read it very quickly. It was by far my favorite book written by John Green. I have read some other books by him such as Looking for Alaska, Will Grayson, Will Grayson, and of course The Fault in Our Stars. I thought this was the best out of his other works because you really got to know what the main characters' personality were and the plot was well thought out. I liked that it made me think and I loved how there was mystery at every page you turn. Also the book was very suspenseful and it felt like I was actually in the story.

Overall Rating:

Overall, I thought that Paper Towns was a good book and I definitely recommend it to people who like John Green but haven't read this book. It's well written but I would advise you to read it before the movie comes out this summer.

I really want to read John Green's other books but I have a huge list of books that I want to read now so maybe if they're as good as his other ones, I might read it now. Let me know in the comments.

                         Thanks for reading,

Pool/Beach Bag essentials☀☀☀

Spring 2014, April

Todays Theme: Beach and Pool essentials

Hey Guys,

Long time no see :(
We are finally reunited!!!!!!

So today we are going to be sharing with you guys our Beach and Pool bags. We will take you step by step to make sure you have all the essentials necessary for a long day at the beach or pool. Let's get started, shall we?

Step 1: Find a big tote bag to fit all the items.

This one is from Victoria's Secret.

Step 2: Don't forget a Towel and a sweater. We all know that a towel is a basic, but how many times have you forgotten one?

A sweater is a must if you are planning to stay long on the windy beach.

Step 3: It's always a good idea to bring a snack after a long swim. There's a huge variety of snacks from chips to fruit to granola bars. Don't forget your water, we have already lectured you about that once.

Step 4: To entertain yourself, pack an electronic device and your earphones so can listen to your favourite music. It's always nice to catch up on a good book.

*Quick Tip: To keep your phone safe from sand and water just plop it in a plastic zip lock back and TADA.

Step 5: It's always handy when you have a pouch full of your beauty essentials like:

Makeup Removing wipes → These are useful for when you get out of the water and find yourself with racoon eyes. Just grab one of these and wipe off the excess makeup. You can find these at any local drugstore.

SPF lip Balm → To keep your lips from burning :)We especially like these Baby Lips by Maybelline, because they add a nice pop of colour. These can be found at most drugstores.

Hand sanitizer → It's nice to have a little hand sanitizer to apply right before your snack. This one is from Bath and Body Works and is in "Sweet Shop" they smell amazing.

Waterproof mascara → Great for when you have to go somewhere after the pool or beach. Just apply a couple coats and your all set :)

Sunscreen → This is a must have.Even if you don't burn easily, better safe then sorry. If you like to tan think again it's terrible for your skin and can cause skin cancer.

All these products fit perfectly in a little pouch.

Step 6: Don't forget those sunglasses to keep your eyes away from the sun.

Once you have gathered all your essentials just put them all in your beach bag. It's time to head to the Beach or Pool :)

Thank you so much for reading. We are so sorry for not posting in a while, but we're back!!

PS: Hope these tips were helpful.
